Math Location: IAKSS | 2. Self Paced Learning Course Online Summer Canvas Teaching Math with Technology Study Self-paced summer learning to earn PD credit for NEXT school year 21-22 ? Would you like to do some math learning over the summer at your own pace, where you earn PD? ? Would you like to refine your skills for teaching math with technology both in-person and online? ? Would you like to share lessons you have designed for math using technology and get PD credit? ? Would you like to participate in online discussions about how to use technology in your classes? ? Did you hear about our book study January-March and wished you had participated? ? Did you participate in our book study and now have great lessons you want to share for PD credit? If you answered YES to ANY of these questions, register today! THIS IS A FULLY ONLINE CANVAS COURSE and posted in 3 separate sections on FRONTLINE The course is divided into three sections to obtain a total of up to 6 hours of PD. (2 hours for each section: by June 9th, by July 7th, and by August 4th). For each section, choose one assignment and participate in a discussion board to complete at your own pace. You will post it all on Canvas. Assignment choices (choose one of the following options): 1. Read & answer reflection questions about part of the book OR 2. Watch a PD Zoom video for your grade band and write a reflection OR 3. Submit a math lesson you designed that uses technology (this is the best choice for those who participated in the zoom meetings before to share your lessons with others and get PD credit for your work). AND participate in the Discussion Board for your grade band by posting an initial response and then a follow-up post to colleagues. (minimum two posts per module) When registering in Frontline, you will be sent an email inviting to join our canvas course. A professional development opportunity is available to middle and high school math teachers in partnership with Apple to learn Swift programming through iPad playgrounds. AdvanceKentucky will be hosting virtual professional development sessions with an Apple professional from July 13-15, and there is no enrollment cost for teachers. Middle School 8 Mathematical Practices Training Note - this opportunity is for stipend only (not PD hours) The Kentucky Center for Mathematics (KCM) is partnering for an exciting virtual professional learning opportunity for middle school math and special education teachers. The training academy focuses on the 8 mathematics teaching practices with the goal of improving mathematics outcomes for students with disabilities. The learning sessions will be led by KCM and conducted virtually over a ten-week cycle. Participants also will engage with and discuss the content they are learning, create and complete a capstone project that successfully demonstrates all required elements and participate in a post-project survey. All activities for the project will be completed after school hours. Virtual Session This virtual lunch and learn session will provide middle school math teachers with a reset on the KAS math standards, looking deeply at the Attending to Standards for Mathematical Practice "green section" at the bottom of each page, for problem-solving and extended response ideas to help start the school year with a growth mindset. We will overview the pacing guides that include links and discuss the Fall Math Common Assessment that we plan to have in Galileo.
