These Topic 4 online assessments are NOT required. Topic 4 can be customized, or teachers/PLCs can create their own assessments. However, if teachers “want” to use the enVision online Topic 4, the Snips are ready and attached.

Please share with all math teachers including sped and EL.

If used:

• Students will use the paper copies attached to complete the work before they log on and complete the assessment online.
• The paper form of the common online assessment will allow teachers to “see” the student work and still enable the answers to post to the platform.
• The paper copies will also enable PLC’s to analyze for common errors or misconceptions or gather examples of exemplary work.

Yes, calculators used for all assessments.

As you think of additional questions, please do not hesitate to email or call.

Thanks!
Natalee

Mrs. Feese - please share the attached I created on JamBoard. My students love JamBoard! So easy to assign, too!

I created using the card sort in MILC as a reference, and I also added writing what you see in a graph (number line) and more.

The topic is Graphing Inequalities on a number line.

The title is in Spanish, BUT the Jamboard is all in English.

Open Middle Tasks - Use Number Tiles as a manipulative Option.

How does choosing the coefficient or constant affect the variable’s value?
What is the largest possible value that the coefficient of b can be?
Answer
One answer from Barb Everhart is:
4 + a = 9
3 * b = 6
c – 7 = 1
a = 5, b = 2, c = 8
There are other solutions! See what the students come up with and let them write on the board!

2nd Equation -Ask -
How does each constant’s value affect the solution’s value?
How does the coefficient’s value affect the solution’s value?
Answer
Assuming x can be a negative value, 1x + 9 = 2 gives the least possible value of -7. The greatest possible value would be 1x + 2 = 9

The FAL is the source for the card sort. The "entire" FAL does not "have" to be used.

Pull the card sort (page 14) - pull the post-assessment for a quick formative at the end (page 15 in the FAL) - use this PowerPoint, and you are set!

BUMP - Solving Equations

Students work with a partner, and each team of 2 will need the following:

Materials: One die, one transparent spinner (placed on the table to the left of the gameboard), and eight counters per player. Each player uses a different color.
