Grade 7 Topic 3 Online Assessment Paper Copy • Students will use the paper copies attached to complete the work before they log on and complete the assessment online. • The paper form of the common online assessment will allow teachers to “see” the student work and still enable the answers to post to the platform. • The paper copies will also enable PLC’s to analyze for common errors or misconceptions or gather examples of exemplary work. Yes, calculators used for all assessments. See the attached snips and take a peek online before your students complete the assessments to see how these match. "Snips" for Topic 3 Assessment. Snips are the online questions in a format that can be printed. These print-outs are valuable! Students should take all enVision assessments using pencil/paper prior to completing online. The attached Snips are in a Word document. If teachers customize the Topic 3 Assessment, these Snips can be customized, as well. Note: Topic 3 is NOT a common assessment for the district data collection for Grade 7. Math Location: IAKSS	I thought I would share with you some of my teaching percent starters. 1) Starting with 10%: I ask what's 10% of some number, say 40, and they know right away. So then I ask what's 20%, 30%, 5%, etc. (all of which they can do in their head, relying on common sense). This helps alleviate some of their "fear" of percentages. 2) Estimation: I'll put on the screen some situations, like "45% off a $2134.56 computer, what do you pay" (something that can't easily be done in their heads), and record everyone's estimates. We then go through the actual calculation; closest guess is the winner. 3) Surveys: I take goofy surveys in class (Who prefers cats to dogs? Who likes the blue Takis?), and we record the "yeses" as fractions, then decimals, then percents, organized in a table. Sometimes I have them survey friends and family at home, and we pool our data. The form can be copied in sets (students write on their own paper) and used as a summative assessment OR formatively. Includes MC and ER. Answer Key is at the end of the PDF.
